Introduction

In this guide you will learn how to:

  • Change the loading offset, historical modifier, and outgoing tube length
  • Change your printer name
  1. Go to Home Screen > Printers > Select Printer > Edit Calibration Data to view and change the following:
    • Go to Home Screen > Printers > Select Printer > Edit Calibration Data to view and change the following:

    • Loading Offset (LO). This represents the overall length from Palette's output to the printer nozzle. It includes the outgoing tube length, extruder length, and any other bowden assemblies the filament must travel to reach the nozzle.

    • Historical Modifier (HM). This is the average pings over time.

    • Outgoing Tube Length. The tube used between Palette and the extruder.

    • Learn more about loading offset and historical modifier and how they are used for calibration.

  2. Measure Loading Offset (LO) values Part of the loading offset includes the distance between where the tube clips into the extruder and the nozzle. If the hot end was changed, or if the printer was changed between direct drive to bowden, this length can be modified. Enter new Loading Offset measure and save.

  3. Calibration > Historical Modifier The historical modifier value will be logged here as the printer profile continues to tune from saving print data.
    • Calibration > Historical Modifier

    • The historical modifier value will be logged here as the printer profile continues to tune from saving print data.

    • This historical modifier also represents the ping average, and the percentage can be manually edited if necessary.

  4. Calibration > Outgoing Tube Length If the tube being used between Palette and the printer is changed, enter the new length here. Install Outgoing Tube following the steps from the printer setup.

    • Enter the length of the outgoing tube used, and save.

    • S(57cm), M(80cm), L(110cm), or enter a custom length.

  5. Access the status bar by tapping the 3 dots in the right corner. Tap Printer > My Printer > Edit Printer Name Rename the printer and save. Rename the printer and save.

Is there a difference in the Value of the LO here and the value of the LO in the printer settings in Canvas?

I have been having an issue that no matter what length I put in the LO, the Smart Load is always off by the same amount.

The reason I have this issue, I believe, is that I am using the Ender 3 Max, which has a Filament Runout Sensor. Because of this, I have to pull some filament out after it is primed for the smart Load to feed it past the sensor, and that is the amount of filament that the print is off by.

I have noticed that sometimes, the filament that is pushed past the Out Going Tube length is longer than normal (normal being just long enough to fit an ender 3 which is the profile I am using and modified for the Ender 3 Max) and actually fits through the filament run out sensor, but it is still not long enough to hit the nozzle at the end.

What am i doing wrong? Is there a fix?

Hello, the LO saved to the printer profile on Palette represents the distance from the tube clip to the printer nozzle (basically any additional distance the filament must travel once the filament exits the outgoing tube). There is a bowden tube length setting in Canvas' printer profile settings, but this wouldn't affect the amount of filament created at the beginning. Once the filament coming out of the tube is engaged by the extruder, the next screen on Palette should prompt a number of millimeters left to load (with or without smartloading). If the amount being asked to load is too short and will not bring enough filament to the nozzle, an increase in the LO on Palette would be required.
